IONS China 2009
From May 23 to May 25 2009, five students in OSA@ZJU attended the IONS China 2009 in ChangChun. This meeting was hold by Changchun Institute of Optics, Fine Mechanics and Physics. The attendants involved OSA and SPIE student members from Peking University, Tsinghua University, Zhejiang University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Alabama University in USA etc.
During the meeting, Pro. David J. Brady from Duke University , Pro. Guo Junpeng from Alabama University, and Pro. Zhang Xuejun from CIOMP gave us invitational speeches to introduce their researching and focused fields. Besides that, they also discussed some problems with us and changed ideas. Everyone learned a lot from the discussion.
One of the main topics of IONS China 2009 was how to build and develop the OSA student chapter in China in a long term. It was a good opportunity for the eight student chapters to get together, know each other and exchange experience. During the symposium, we seek the cooperated opportunities and tried to build a more broaden plane to broadcast the photonic knowledge and attract more students to join us. We will strengthen the communications in the future. The IONS China 2009 won a big success which was the first time for the Chinese Student Chapters to cooperate with each together. And we believe every-year symposium in necessary.
